Plato had it right: Necessity is the mother of invention. It was out of frustration that Leberman taught herself to screenprint.
As a designer, Leberman has always been drawn to the power of logos. It seems, however, that even the best logos find their way onto poor-quality white tee-shirts proportioned to fit men.
As a curvy woman with a pale complexion, Leberman found such garments inappropriate.
Leberman has been enamored of the logo of the Parliament of the World's Religions (as well as the organization itself) since she first learned of it. |

However, at 2004's Barcelona Parliament, the only tees for sale were white and boxy. So she made her own.
Leberman is also a fan of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. But the official tees suit neither her body type nor dispostion. Leberman prefers designs she can wear to work, and those which are subtle enough to be recognizable by only fellow fans. So she made her own.
Leberman is open to commissions so long as they don't infringe on others' copyright interests.
Email Amber Leberman if you'd like to commission a garment. |
